Fitness on Campus

As a grad student, it is easy to for you to put yourself as a last priority but it is important to make sure you are staying healthy. USU has provided several ways to do this, including the HPER and ARC. Located on 700 N, the fitness centers are free to students and offer a variety of ways to stay in shape. 


The Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Building includes many different resources for students to work out.  

  • Racquetball courts 
  • Swimming pools 
  • Lap pools 
  • Diving boards 
  • Basketball courts 
  • Locker rooms  
  • Several gyms that host fitness and dance classes 



The ARC was opened only a few years ago and has some of the newest exercise technology, including biometrics hand scanners for check in. Some of the resources include: 

  • Cycling studio 
  • Basketball courts 
  • Indoor volleyball/badminton courts 
  • Indoor 1/8 mile track 
  • Climbing wall 
  • Sand volleyball courts 
  • Weight equipment 



The Fieldhouse is a great place to work out because it is often less crowded. It is the oldest recreation building on campus and housed the basketball team until the Spectrum was built. It now offers:  

  • 2 Indoor basketball courts 
  • Indoor 1/8 mile track 
  • Cycling studio 
  • Squash court 
  • Billiards room 
  • Strength and conditioning room 


Fitness Program 

Campus Recreation has created a program to help anyone get a jump on exercise with fun classes. Included is yoga, cycling, full-body workouts, and much more. The unlimited classes pass can be purchased online for around $40. The classes are great for anyone who is looking for some instruction in fitness or some group encouragement.

Another option is a personal fitness program or small group training. For an extra fee, students can receive individual help at the gym.  


Any student has access to all of these resources. Make sure to take advantage and find a way to relieve stress through exercise.
