Recruitment Grants

The School of Graduate Studies offers grants to support activities that directly contribute to the recruitment of a highly qualified and diverse population of graduate students. Examples of activities that have been supported by Recruitment Grants include:

  • Travel to recruitment fairs, professional conferences, or to institutions that have the potential to serve as pipelines for graduate students
  • Travel costs to bringing prospective students to the USU campus
  • Development of recruiting materials (e.g., video podcasts of current student research for your program’s website, program brochures)

Funding

Each department may submit one request each fiscal year. Funds will be available through May of the fiscal year, for up to $1,500. A second request, for no more than $500, may be submitted if it is to support recruitment of a prospective student who is a member of a group that is underrepresented in the department that submits the request.

Reporting

Departments that receive a Graduate Recruitment Grant must submit a final report on their recruitment activities before they are eligible to receive a new award. Submit reports by email to Richard Cutler.

Review Process

SGS staff will review applications, consulting with the deans or department heads when necessary, and provide a response within two weeks.

Deadlines

Requests will be reviewed and grants made until the annual fund has been depleted.
