Amanda Joy-Petersen is native to Ogden/Clinton, Utah. She cunently resides in Logan, Utah while she pursues her MFA in Printmaking at Utah State University. She earned her BFA in Alt Education with Honors, from Weber State University. Amanda has a deep love of learning and exploration. She used this drive to earn the Lindquist Student Fellowship three years in a row. The funds allowed her to teach printmaking at Redwoods NP, attend a printmaking workshop in Nebraska, and complete an art educator intensive at MoMA/The MET/Guggenheim Museums in NYC. Her time at Utah State University as a grad student has been an interesting experience. It began with a global pandemic that included adaptive learning and teaching. At the end of her second year, in April 2022, Amanda was diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She had amazing suppo1t from her family, her cancer team, and numerous people in the Caine College of the Alts. Ainanda was able to complete six months of chemo, five surgeries, four more semesters of teaching, adapt to her body's new way of moving to create art, and continue to be a wife, mother of three, and a student. Amanda anticipates graduating with her MFA in Spring of 2024, and looking for more opportunities to teach in Northern Utah.
