Engineering Education

Abigail Lehto is a first-year PhD student in Engineering Education at Utah State University. Abigail has a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics, and a Master’s of Science in Engineering Education, all from Utah State University. She first became interested in education during her senior year when she was a teaching assistant for an Instrumentation and Measurements course. She was a TA for that course for a year, and then became a TA for a Dynamics course when she started her master’s degree. Abigail sees teaching as a way to share knowledge with others and finds that to be one of the best things to do with the knowledge that has been shared with her. One of her favorite things to do is find multiple ways to explain a concept to be able to help students be able to make sense of it. Abigail’s research interests are in experiential learning of undergraduate engineering students and engagement practices of under-represented groups in engineering. Outside of teaching and research, Abigail enjoys playing ice hockey and reading books.
