Design Stunning Posters

Like slides, posters can fall on the side of being boring and ineffective. Anna McEntire, Director of RGS Communications, has a trick or two or four up her sleeve, and will use this session to show you how to create the best poster possible, using posters you submit as examples.

Online Resources

Hall of Fame

Better Posters by Zen Faulkes is the best active blog on the internet for learning specifically about poster design. The author is funny, includes specific case studies, and curates great simple resources on basic graphic and information design.

Designing Conference Posters by Colin Purrington is, in my opinion, the second-best resource for tips on poster design, just behind Better Posters. The author spends a good amount of time demonstrating the rationale for specific design recommendations.

Design Principles by Smashing Magazine is a very current and useful overview of basic graphic design principles for any type of application. (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5)

Hall of Shame

Poster Presentations is an organization specializing in printing your poster. As a part of that service they offer free PowerPoint templates that no one should ever use.
