Christopher J. Hartwell is an Associate Professor in the Huntsman School of Business, where he is Director of the Master of Human Resources program and teaches courses on talent acquisition and talent management. He has directly mentored 20 graduate assistants in his 10 years at USU, while informally mentoring countless other students.
Chris has two decades of professional experience in the field of human resources, including recruiting, selection, performance management, employee training & development, and consulting. He is recognized as a Senior Certified HR Professional through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP), and is an active member of SHRM, the Academy of Management (AOM), and the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (SIOP).
Chris received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from Purdue University, after obtaining an M.S. in Human Resources from Utah State University and a B.A. in Communication from George Washington University. His research interests include employee selection, performance feedback, HR technology, and leadership. His research has been published in multiple top journals, including Journal of Applied Psychology and Journal of World Business, and he has been quoted as an expert in notable publications, such as Forbes and The Economist.
