This award is presented at the Robins Awards each spring.

Cara Haderlie is a 3rd-year PhD student of Technical Communication and Rhetoric at Utah State University in the College of Arts and Sciences. She has taught courses in ENGL 1010- Inquiry of Writing, ENGL 1020- Research and Argument Across Perspectives, ENGL 1020- Career-based Writing, ENGR 3080- Technical Communication for Engineers, TCR 3220- Technical Editing, and TCR 2100- Intro to Technical Communication. Cara collaborated with USU statewide faculty/administration and designed a research-centered writing course taught at USU statewide which offered students professional genre writing support for an online, statewide platform, i.e. Connect. She believes in complete inclusiveness in the classroom and continually researches pedagogy styles that promote students’ sense of safety, bravery, empathy, and value that will promote their learning. She served as a Writing Center tutor and a research assistant for the Center of Intersectional and Gender Studies focusing on research and writing on the antenarrative, social justice in technical artifacts, and transgender discourse. Her research interests focus on trauma-informed pedagogy, storytelling, and UX design for online courses statewide. Cara knows the worth of research and gathering data to produce meaningful knowledge and practices that push the field forward. Cara has published in the international conference proceedings of ACM-SIGDOC and in the journal Programmatic Perspective.
