Graduate Faculty Handbook

The purpose of this handbook is:

  • To serve as a navigational tool for graduate faculty members as they work with graduate students towards their academic success.
  • To assist graduate faculty in understanding graduate student rights and responsibilities.
  • To provide clarity on the rules and procedures necessary for serving as a member of the graduate faculty at Utah State University in the roles of major professor, supervisor of graduate assistants, and member of a thesis, project, or dissertation committee.

Utah State University (USU) is committed to maintaining a community environment that encourages mutual respect and facilitates collegial relationships. To build and promote trust, all USU community members are collectively responsible to set a positive example and to avoid behaving disrespectfully, including bullying, or any other behavior that would reasonably offend, intimidate, embarrass, or humiliate others, whether deliberately or unintentionally. University related interactions should be conducted with professionalism, courtesy, civility, decency, and a concern for personal dignity.
