  • To understand the policies, procedures, and forms that are required throughout their program to ensure their timely completion of academic requirements and success along their path to graduation.

Required Trainings for Graduate Students

  • Student Sexual Misconduct Training

    NOTE: Please see SGS Catalog Section 4.1 for further information about the required Sexual Misconduct Training

    • All Utah State University students are required to complete the Student Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training each academic year.
    • NOTE: If students are employed on campus, then they must complete the required employee sexual misconduct prevention training, in addition to the student sexual misconduct prevention training.
    • New graduate students can sign up for a training in Learn Blue.
    • Continuing graduate students can access the training directly on the training website.
    • Students who do not complete this training will receive a registration hold and will not be able to register for the following semester. NOTE: The hold will be removed once the training has been completed. Please contact the Civil Rights & Title IX Office at training@usu.edu with any questions regarding this required training and its deadline.
  • Teaching Assistant Training
    • Graduate teaching training is required for graduate students who have been awarded a graduate assistantship as a Graduate Grader, Graduate Teaching Assistant, or Graduate Instructor in any capacity at Utah State University.
    • The CEU courses are designed to assist the graduate student in being prepared for their assistantship position.

  • Responsible Conduct of Research & Regulatory Approval

    Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) CITI Training

    NOTE: Please see the SGS Catalog Section 5.1.1, Section 6.1, and Section 6.2, for further information about required RCR training. For further information about required regulatory approval, please see SGS Catalog Section 5.1, Section 8.2 (Master's), and Section 10.1.2 (Doctoral).

    • Required as part of the initial SCAF form.
    • If a Master's Plan B paper/project requires research, the student's Committee will require completion of the RCR training.
    • After a student has successfully defended their proposal, they will need to obtain regulatory approval before they can begin their research, and before they can submit their Thesis/Project Approval Form (TPA) (Master's Plan A/B) or Application for Candidacy (ACDD) (Doctoral).
