Dr. Jared Colton is an associate professor of technical communication and rhetoric and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English at Utah State University. His research addresses the intersections of rhetorical theory, ethics, and politics within technical communication and related fields, from concerns of pedagogy to digital media. Currently, he is interested in how classical and contemporary ethical frameworks inform the practice and critique of communication in social media and accessibility technologies.

He is currently collaborating with the Center for Innovative Design and Instruction for an ongoing service-learning project to make USU teaching materials accessible to students with disabilities. He serves on dissertation committees in the Technical Communication and Rhetoric program, as well as Master’s He has published in Rhetoric Review, Computers and Composition, Technical Communication Quarterly, and other journals. His co-authored book Rhetoric, Technology, and the Virtues was recently published with the University Press of Colorado/Utah State University Press.
